Phelps: 37 World Records Later

  1. I wonder if Mr. Phelps and the Pres shared a common love of a certain green, leafy herb. I highly doubt it.

I was constantly amazed by Phelps in the Olympics, but some of his medals couldn't have come if not for heroic performances by others as well. The come from behind victories piled up, especially in that one relay. It's a good reminder that sometimes, in order to rise above, we need others to lift us as well.

  2. This weekend as i had a chance to watch my husband play hockey in salt lake at the oval ice rink, i saw competitions for speed skating. It made me realize a few things that i also noticed in your wac. One is that unless you put forth the effort like michael phelps did, to practice, you can never preform your best when it comes time. There were many men at the rink this weekend, who seem to shrink under the pressure of other contenders. These men seemed to feel inadequate, probably for the lack of practice put in. While others calmly raced slowly around the track, because they knew that they were ready to step up to the track. In order to step up, we must have faith in ourselves. Great job on your wac!

  3. I love learning about athlete's incredible accomplishments. Doesn't it just make you want to get out and do something extraordinary!?

In athletics I think great accomplishment is an especially interesting process. Not only are you fighting the pain your body is going through, but you are also fighting a mental battle as well. This is why I think physical fitness accomplishments are some of the most satisfactory things in the world.

In fact, I think I'm going to go find a race to sign up for.

  4. I love Lincoln.

Relating to Phelps a little bit-- I have memories of playing lacrosse in high school and running for hours. What I love about sports is that it gives you a chance to realize your mental and physical capacity.
