Sister Beeston, I imagine that this will be the subject of next week's blog, but to get a head start, I thought I would comment this week. I have found that my time on HCSC has made all the difference in the world for me here at BYU. I know more people, I have been encouraged to participate in other extra-curricular activities and I have felt that I am making my BYU experience my own. I will tell next week, but it has been a very positive experience for me
Being part of a group is one thing, but participating is another. Being present is not the mere qualification for greater satisfaction, but having a responsibility in those settings improves life. This is a great picture, capturing active attention rather than a passive observance.
Extracurricular activities are a large part of what makes any educational experience enjoyable. Some of my best times at BYU have been while playing on the BYU Club tennis team, intramural basketball, or going running with some friends I met at the running club. This is one thing I believe America has got going for it. In other places like France for example, they have no extracurricular activities associated with their schools. How do they ever get through?
A) I think it's funny that Ephraim referred to you as "Sister Beeston." Ha! Maybe I should try to do so as well.
B) Although many people are commenting on how HCSC hasn't helped their grades...the same can be said about people who are employed. I think people who are involved in a lot of things outside of school feel like it hinders their ability to study...but the statistics do show that people who do things outside of schoolwork do better. maybe because it's just the type of go-getter attitude that biases that result? In any case, I sometimes do feel like I do better when my schedule is packed...that is why summer classes are such a pain. I have all the free time in the world to study, work, and research my classes--but I choose not to. Keeping ourselves busy pushes us to work hard in all aspects of our life.
I love this picture. Kiersty looks so cute!
