Good point. It's not worth it to spend our time working hard on the wrong goal. It's like being lost on a trail and knowing it's not the right direction, but keeping on because you're making really good time. Also, I have to say that one of my favorite books is Dracula, so I can't complain about you liking Frankenstein. I'll put it on my list of things to read.
Good stuff. I do remember the Elder Holland quote, and its true, not only for missionaries, but for everyone. If we live every day to its fullest, then we won't have any regrets. We need to live each day that it is a game in the March Madness tournament, don't hold back; its single elimination. You can tell where my mind is, huh? That metaphor made no sense.
I see so much of you in your son. :) I like your post. I look at the life of Elder Holland and think to myself that that man most likely has never wasted any part of his life. I than look at my life and think of those times when I would come home from school, tired, and flip on the tv and spend the next hour literally flipping through channels; not really watching anything. I would feel guilty about that and say to myself, what a waste of time. I have sought to decrease those moments and follow Elder Holland's words, but it is hard. Sometimes, I want to just flip the channels, because, well, it's relaxing . . . for me, that is. But I want to embrace this challenge from Elder Holland and make every moment of my life great.
