I think you definitely illustrate a good point. I had a little realization like that recently where I was told to just get what I could out of a experience that total bombed and move on. What can you say to that advice? No? Not so much. No good can come out of saying "No. Getting up is over rated. I'd rather just sprawl out on the ground right here." Sure, sometimes I just want to sprawl on the ground, but we gotta get back up. That's life! And we DO survive.
So this one time, I took a girl to the movie theater for a date, and she was giving hints that it would be a good time for me to kiss her.
So I went for it, but at the same time she went for it too. We knocked foreheads together. I happened to have a hidden pimple right where our foreheads collided, so I screamed out in severe pain. She got scared and ask me what she did, but I didn't have the heart to tell her. Awkward drive home.
So... yeah, I know those dogs feel. Just gotta get up and try again. Look at me now, I'm married!
